Storytelling Through Poetry - Spoken Word

Every single poem I've ever written, was written with how I'd perform it in mind.

        Let me explain...

At my core, I am a performer and one of many different mediums: voice, theater, choral, piano, poetry. And as someone who loves to perform - for the sake of sharing the art, for telling stories through art - I knew that there had to be a performance aspect to my poetry book.

Nothing else felt more appropriate than an audiobook, but I'm not thinking of it as an audiobook, I'm thinking of it as a play, a performance.

My book is broken up into four chapters, with different thematic challenges in each one, but the similarities between and through each of the chapters, is that growth is non-linear. The words on the page will be in sharing the core story, but I believe that my performance of the book itself will add another layer of dimension to the collection, hopefully bringing a more raw and honest interpretation to the poems, inviting the reader to discover more.

I will be announcing the book title next month, with pre-orders being available shortly after that, and the audiobook performance will be available for listening starting later this fall, right before the holidays. I am thoroughly looking forward to sharing this project with you all.

until next time,

Sewit
